Season 2 Of Bravo’s Food Series, Top Chef Houston, Is Here!

Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons are returning to Bravo’s Emmy-winning reality series, Top Chef, for its ninth season. Asheville-based pop-up Good Hot Fish is the brainchild of chef Ashleigh Shanti.

At the tender age of two, she learned how to remove the leaves of collard greens off a plant in her family’s garden in coastal Virginia. At Baltimore International College, Ashleigh Shanti studied culinary arts after completing her bachelor’s degree in marketing at Hampton University.

While she’s worked in a variety of eateries, Southern Appalachian food has always been her favorite.

During her time as chef de cuisine at John Fleer’s Benne on Eagle, Ashleigh received the 2019 Eater Young Gun award and was named a 2020 finalist for the James Beard “Rising Star Chef of the Year” award.

When she’s not in the kitchen, Ashleigh likes to spend time outside with her 10-year-old Vizsla, Roux, and her gorgeous partner, Meaghan, birding, foraging, or trekking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
