How to Connect Your Printer to A Wi-Fi Network?

Imagine being able to print from a variety of devices, such as tablets and smartphones, without having to physically connect each one to a multitude of wires in order to do so. Convenient, right? All of these things are possible with a wireless printer, in addition to moving the device from one area to another. This is, of course, unless you are having difficulties connecting to Wi-Fi.

The following instructions will help you connect a printer to Wi-Fi if you have a device manufactured by Epson®, Canon®, or HP®.

Check the settings on the printer

It’s possible that the reason you’re having problems connecting to Wi-Fi is that your printer isn’t hooked up to the computer you’re using. Checking and configuring it is done in the following manner on computers running WindowsTM and Mac®:

1. First, ensure that the power is on for your printer, and then click the Start button on your computer.
2. Choose Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners from the drop-down menu.

4. Choose your printing device (look for the manufacturer name and model number).
5. Choose the Add device option, and if prompted for it, input the password.

HOW TO CHECK THE SETUP OF THE PRINTER ON A MAC

1. Choose Apple® from the menu that appears in the upper-left corner of the screen on your computer.
2. Choose System Preferences > Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners to configure your printer and scanner.
3. If you don’t see your printer on the list, you may add it by clicking the plus sign (), and then choosing it from the list that appears.
4. Choose the software or driver for your printer from the Use drop-down menu, and then click the Add button.

4. After making your selection from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and entering your password, press the OK button.
5. Once you have successfully connected, the Power and Wi-Fi lights will cease flashing.

WPS allows you to connect your printer to your wireless network

You can also use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) mode on your device to connect a printer to your wireless network. Using this strategy, you will be able to join a wireless network even if you are unaware of the name of the network. HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HP PRINTER TO WI-FI USING WPS (Wireless Protected Setup)

1. Check to see that your printer is turned on and can communicate with your Wi-Fi network.
2. Set your printer in WPS connection mode:

• While the wireless light is flashing, press and hold the button labeled “Wireless” for a total of five seconds.
• For models DeskJet 6000/6400 and Envy 6000/6400, press and hold the Wi-Fi button as well as the Power button for a total of five seconds, until the blue bar begins to flash.

Once approximately one minute has passed, press and maintain pressure on the WPS button located on the router until the Wi-Fi light begins to blink. As soon as the indicator light stops blinking, you are successfully connected.

HOW TO USE WPS TO CONNECT YOUR EPSON PRINTER TO YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK

1. Check to see that your printer is turned on and can communicate with your Wi-Fi network.
2. Put the WPS button on your router into the on position.
3. To return to the main menu of the printer, hit the Home button.
4. Choose the Wi-Fi Setup option, then hit OK.
5. Choose the Push Button Setup (WPS) option, then press the OK button.
6. To finish the setup, make sure you follow the instructions that appear on the screen of the printer.

If in the upper left corner of the screen, there is a Wi-Fi icon with green connection bars, you have successfully connected to the network.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CANON PRINTER TO WI-FI USING WPS (Wireless Protected Setup)

1. Check to be that the printer is turned on and can communicate with your Wi-Fi network.
2. Tap the WLAN icon located on the touchscreen. After that, hit the Start setup button.
3. Once you have pressed and held the WPS button on your router for the allotted amount of time, you should then select OK on the printer within the allotted amount of time.
4. Tap the OK button on your printer’s screen whenever you see the message “Connected to the access point.”

Reset your printer to factory settings

It’s possible that resetting the settings on your printer will fix the problems you’re having with Wi-Fi. First, complete these instructions, and then give your gadget a shot at connecting to your wireless network.

1. Once the printer has been turned off, disconnect the power cord from the device for a period of thirty seconds before reconnecting it.
2. While you are pushing and holding the Resume button for around 20 seconds, the printer should be turned on.
3. Put your finger off the Resume button as soon as the Attention light illuminates. While the printer returns its settings to its factory defaults, the Attention, and Ready lights will cycle.

1. Press the Home button on the control panel of the printer, then select Setup, and then press the OK button.
2. Choose to Restore Default Settings, and then click the OK button.

1. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu at the top left.
2. Choose Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners, then click the + button at the bottom left.
3. Click the – button after choosing your printer.
4. If you get a pop-up menu, choose “Add Printer or Scanner” from it.
5. Choose your printer from the list, then click the Use menu and choose one of the following:

• Use AirPrint®: If you used a USB cable to connect an AirPrint printer, choose AirPrint. If AirPrint isn’t on the pop-up menu, your printer doesn’t support it.
• Use the software for your printer that came with your computer or that you downloaded from Apple: Select Software, then find the software for your printer and click OK.
• Use printer software on your Mac from a file: Choose “Other,” then click “Add” after choosing the file.
