Bloodlands Season 2

Is there a new episode of Bloodlands airing on BBC One tonight? For anyone looking for an answer to that question, be assured we’ve got it within. The good news is not 100%, though.

After all, there is a significant break between seasons of the crime drama at the moment. There was no official word that the show will be renewed for a second season when we wrote about it last weekend.

Of course, it was then, and times have changed. Bloodlands got renewed for further episodes a few days ago, which means that we may plunge more into the show’s intriguing, intricate world.

Bloodlands offers a wealth of valuable insights, including a comprehensive examination of Northern Ireland and the forces at play there. There was a ghost-hunting theme running through the first season, and we’re crossing our fingers that it returns for the second.

The trick is to make each season feel like a natural progression while also being distinct.

Bloodlands Season 2 Release Date

Bloodlands Season 2

Even though filming for the second season of Bloodlands began in Octuber 2022, we may have to wait a while longer for the return of James Nesbitt to our screens.
The BBC drama was renewed in March 2021, with BBC Drama Director Piers Wenger stating that he was “overwhelmed” by the public response and “thrilled” to be continuing the series for a second season.
“Chris’ scripts shed light on conflicts in Northern Ireland, both historical and contemporary,” he remarked. The show’s success in Northern Ireland and across the UK is a tribute to his talents as a writer, Jimmy Nesbitt’s virtuoso performance, and the dedication of everyone at HTM Television.
“Everyone at HTM Television is happy our premiere show has been recommissioned,” said Executive Producer Jed Mercurio. It’s a testament to the skill of our writer, Chris Brandon, our dedicated staff, and the outstanding work of our actors, led by James Nesbitt.
We appreciate the tremendous backing we’ve gotten from the BBC and Northern Ireland Screen and can’t wait to give Bloodlands fans another complex case for Brannick and company to solve.
James Nesbitt, who plays Tom Brannick, expressed his delight at the show’s enthusiastic reception, saying, “I’m always glad to be back in Northern Ireland and to disclose even more of Tom Brannick.”
In response to the renewal, writer Chris Brandon said, “It has been great to get such a positive response to James Nesbitt’s outstanding performance, and the excellent work of his fellow cast and crew. I can’t wait to start working with HTM Television and the BBC on their new project in Northern Ireland.

Bloodlands Season 2 Plot

Bloodlands Season 2

According to the BBC synopsis, Tom (James Nesbitt) and the accountant’s widow, Olivia (Victoria Smurfit), “must keep each other perilously near” after the murder of a crooked accountant reveals a trail of greed that threatens to expose his identity as the legendary assassin, Goliath.

Tom and Olivia enlist the help of Tom’s coworkers DS Niamh McGovern (Charlene McKenna), DCS Jackie Twomey (Lorcan Cranitch), and DC “Birdy” Bird (Chris Walley), as well as his daughter Izzy (Lola Petticrew), as they try to solve the riddle her husband left behind and become increasingly immersed in the puzzle of each other.

Series two of Bloodlands is expected to deal with the fallout from Tom’s murders of Pat Keenan and Tori Matthew.

The police think Pat Keenan was Goliath the whole time and that he killed Tori after discovering that she was responsible for his kidnapping, but we know that Tom revealed Tori’s true identity to Pat because she suspected he was behind the Goliath murders and because Tom anticipated that Pat would kill Tori if he knew who she really was.

After Tom realized he had killed Tori, he killed Pat to clean up any loose ends and would have told the police he did it.

If we believe Tom’s allegations that he let Emma Brannick go after killing her secret boyfriend David Cory, then she may make her debut appearance on the show as well.

Maybe if she went back to Belfast she could tell everyone the truth about Tom being a murderer. As for now, all we can do is wait and see.
