After breaking off his engagement with Avril Lavigne, Mod Sun is focused on the future.
In an Instagram post, the 35-year-old artist reflected on his turbulent week, which saw him and Lavigne break up 10 months after getting engaged. He stated he was working on mending his heartbreak.

Mod, who is presently on tour, stated that playing for audiences each night has helped him remain optimistic.
“Every night on tour, being surrounded by love has been an unbelievable blessing,” he added. “I have the greatest friends on the planet; thank you for always having my back. We’ll meet on stage.”
The pop-punk musician, whose real name is Derek Smith, posted a succession of performance images and videos along with his message, beginning with a mirror selfie featuring a stoic expression.
Last week, a source told that he and Lavigne, 38, “had been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together.”
A representative for Mod Sun told PEOPLE that the artist was taken by surprise by the termination of their relationship “When Mod went on tour three days ago, they were together and engaged, so if anything has changed, it is news to him. The mod will perform tonight at The Hawthorne Theater in Portland.”
The previous week, TMZ revealed photographs of Lavigne and Tyga spending lunch at Nobu while embracing. A source told PEOPLE that the two are “true friends and nothing more” and that “no third party was involved in the breakup.”
In January 2021, Mod Sun and Avril Lavigne met and released the track “Flames” together. They began dating the following month and became engaged in Paris in April of 2022.
