Back to the Rafters Season 2 Storyline
Dave and Julie returned to the Rafters with their youngest daughter, Ruby, and began a new life in the country. In order to commemorate Dave and Julie’s 35th wedding anniversary, everyone gathers in Sydney, where they are once again forced to cram into Ben’s two-bedroom apartment, which is already packed to the gills.
This visit reveals that Ben and Cassie have recently married and are hoping to start a family, while Nathan is trying to balance it all while being a single dad to Edward and Rachel while hiding out in New York. For some reason, Grandpa Ted can’t find a place in this family; for Julie, it’s painful to be away from her family, for the rest of us, it’s nice to have Paddo, Dave’s young employee who shares our love of motocross racing.
When the family reunion in the city reveals problems in the rest of the family’s lives, Dave and Julie Rafter’s happiness in the country town is called into question. Australia’s favorite mom and dad will have to adapt to this new reality. The same honesty, love, and laughter bind them all, no matter where they live or how far apart they are, and we see that even as life moves on, the family doesn’t.
Is There a Reminiscence of the Past?
Six years after we last saw the Rafter family, we’re back in the Rafter house. With Ruby as their youngest child, Dave and Julie Rafter have begun a new chapter in their lives in the country, while the older Rafter children adjust to their new surroundings and Grandpa Ted struggles to find his niche. Julie has to find a way to balance her newfound freedom with her obligations to the family.

How Audience Reacted On The Show?
Film critics and fans alike gave the film an enthusiastic reception. “Generally, I like my family sagas loaded with vitriol, scheming, and skulduggery,” wrote Karl Quinn in a review for The Sydney Morning Herald, awarding the show a “welcome return” rating of 312. That’s not what Back to the Rafters is about.
The Rafters will always have a special place in my heart despite my love for other shows like Arrested Development and Game of Thrones. I always found Packed to the Rafters to be frank and authentic,” Daryl Sparkes of the website The Conversation said. Because of the realism of the characters’ issues, actions, and speech, it was easy for the audience to identify with the story.
“This is the secret to Rafters’ continued success,” he said. Taking what we take for granted every day and elevating it to the level of the extraordinary through the medium of film. “It’s wonderful to be able to go back to the Rafters after so many years.”
“Returning to a series that had seemingly run its course eight years ago could have ended in disaster, but Lee has given this central duo a new stage and lease of life that just might provide enough dramatic tension, tears, and laughs to make you fall in love with the Rafters, whether it be for the first time, or all over again,” writes James Croot of the New Zealand website Stuff in a positive review.
