The story of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is at the center of a TV series for NBC entitled Young Rock. The show previously received a green light for a second season, here’s everything you must know.
Young Rock: What You Must Know
Many pilots were in the works at NBC for the 2020/2021 season, but a TV series soon received the green light for the production of a first season: Young Rock. We are talking about a comedy inspired by Dwayne Johnson, also known by his wrestler name, The Rock.
The idea was born from the actor, who teamed up with the creator and executive producer of Fresh Off the Boat, Nahnatchka Khan. NBC took the project off the market last fall. But what is the comedy about? The plot of the TV series Young Rock tells the origins of the wrestling star, who later converted to the cinema. The show will feature Johnson as he grows up. According to the advances released by the actor himself:
We will find a young The Rock wreaking havoc on the Hawaii streets when I was a teenager and they arrested me more or less every week, I did things I shouldn’t have done, but I was still a good boy. Then we got evicted from the island and moved, of all places, to Nashville, where I kept getting into trouble.
As Deadline also reports, Johnson spent the first part of his teenage years in Honolulu, then settled with his family in the capital of Tennessee, where not even seventeen was certified for brawling, theft, and issuing false checks. After high school, he attended the University of Miami, where he became a football star. He later entered the wrestling world, as The Rock.
Young Rock: Is The Show Renewed For A Second Season?
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson went on his Instagram, to announce the second season of Young Rock. On November 23rd, 2021, the actor posted,
“Mark your calendars as we are pumped to bring you another @sevenbucksprod to your living rooms on NBC ~ YOUNG ROCK. Our SEASON 2 returns MARCH 15!!! You and your families have made #YoungRock NBC’s BIGGEST COMEDY IN YEARS and I can’t wait for you to see our second season.”
The show will return with a Season 2 on March 15, 2022, with a set of 12 episodes similar to its first season. Now it remains to be seen what will be the focus of Young Rock Season 2’s storyline afterall.
