LOS ANGELES, CA Ezra Miller, 29, is one of the most sought-after performers in the movie industry, including a major role in the DC film “The Flash” in 2023.
On the other hand, Miller was recently arrested in Hawaii on charges of misdemeanor criminal mischief, including alleged grooming and abuse of an 18-year-old North Dakota victim.
Ezra Miller, who? A glance back at some of his most notable roles, interviews, and press reports offers some light on his personality. Ezra Matthew Miller, the actor who is nonbinary and who uses they/them pronouns, was born in 1992, the youngest of three children, in New Jersey’s “filthy depths,” as they described it to Interview magazine.
Miller had a “really fantastic, magical upbringing” in a place where riches were concentrated but “human happiness” was scarce. Miller took up singing as a means of correcting a severe speech impediment, which resulted in a “grade-school residency” at New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
Acting became their primary focus at age 16 when Miller dropped out of high school to focus only on acting. They were working on a premium-cable show at the time. A look back at Miller’s professional and personal life highlights may be found here.
‘CAKEY! ‘THE OUTER SPACE CAKE’ (2006)
A bully who cheers for a friend while he beats up Duncan, a goofy child with a cake as his best friend, is Miller’s first IMDb-credited part. Seriously. Miller’s brief presence featured memorable remarks such as “What a loser” and “Shut up, gay hole.”
Cakey is, in fact, a demonic cake that wreaks havoc on the universe. There were eight five-minute episodes in the series’ two seasons, although Miller only featured in one of them.
It is referred to as “CALIFORNICATION” (2008)
This was Miller’s fourth credited part and the beginning of their popular success. Actor Miller plays Damien Patterson, an out-of-the-ordinary youngster who is obsessed with Guitar Hero and dates Becca Moody (Madeleine Martin), a precocious daughter of Hank Moody, in a five-episode plot arc on the Showtime series (David Duchovny).
‘ROYAL PAIN’ translates to (2009-2010)
Tucker Bryant, a wealthy 16-year-old hemophiliac, is one of Hank Lawson’s initial patients, played by Miller (Mark Feuerstein). Tucker has a medical emergency in the pilot when he wrecks his father’s expensive Ferrari.
After a brief hiatus during Season 1, the Ferrari makes its fifth appearance in Season 2, as does Tucker, who claims to have inherited his absent father’s allowance from his grandfather, whom he claims to have handed him all of his money.
‘WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN!’ (2011)
Kevin, the “frighteningly manipulative” and eventually sociopathic son of Tilda Swinton’s Eva Khatchadourian, is portrayed by Miller in his first film appearance. Two years after her oldest kid committed a horrible mass murder, a sad novella depicts Eva’s recollections of him in retrospect.
“We observe Kevin’s transformation into a monster over the course of his life.” Her hatred rises until there is an explosion of rage and they are at war,” Miller stated in March of 2011. “That performance was all about discovering all of the hatred and wrath inherent in mother and kid,” he said. It’s a frightening fact.
In addition, it’s a long-standing tale that has been mostly ignored. We need more light. “It’s filthy.”
MILLER IS AVAILABLE NOW (2012)
In August 2012, they told Out magazine, “I’m queer.” “I’m fortunate to have many amazing friends of both genders and sexes in my life. “I’m madly in love with nobody in particular,” she said.
From having a stammer to becoming an opera singer to “being like, a really confused queer teenager,” Miller claimed that when they were younger they went through a wide range of experiences.
According to Miller, “[Bullying] does come with the territory when you’re a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or transsexual person in the public school system… Parts of that spectrum have seen improvements, but not enough to make a noticeable difference.
In terms of advancement, how far have we come? I don’t know for sure. That’s open for discussion.”

A WALLFLOWER’s ‘BENEFITS’ (2012)
“Brazenly eccentric” high school senior Patrick (played by Miller) and step-sister Sam (played by Emma Watson) pull sad freshman Charlie (Logan Lerman) along for the journey as they all struggle to figure out who they are
‘We Need to Talk About Kevin,’ starring Miller opposite Tilda Swinton, provides the minutiae of teen chats some much-needed jolts of electricity,’ observed former L.A. Times reviewer Betsy Sharkey in a glowing review. “With each role, he improves.”
Justice: Dawn of Justice, ‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN’ As well as the “Suicide Squad” (2016)
First time Miller has appeared as Barry Allen, the Flash, in a DC Comics superhero film. The actor’s roles in the two films excite the interest of DC fans, and we’ll get to “The Flash” in a moment.
THE WHERE AND HOW TO FIND THESE FANTASTIC BEASTS (2016)
In the first of the “Fantastic Beasts” films, based on J.K. Rowling’s books, Miller plays the reserved Credence Barebone. In a series of covert meetings with Percival Graves (Colin Farrell), who isn’t quite who he seems to be, Clarence discovers his latent powers.
New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis noted that “these scenes read like sexual predation, especially as Mr. Farrell’s character approaches close to Mr. Miller’s, his voice seductively purring as their two dark silhouettes nearly blur into one,” she wrote in her review.
When an older man meets a sensitive young man in the shadows, deep-seated preconceptions can still surface, which is why they’re so unnerving.
“JUSTICE LEAGUE” (2017)
Bruce Wayne and Batman’s plan to take on the wicked Steppenwolf and his parademons has finally come to fruition, with Barry Allen/The Flash, played by Miller, getting a legitimate job as one of the first recruits.
In order to deal with the menace, Batman (Ben Affleck) enlists the help of Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), but Allen is the film’s comedic highlight.
“A genuinely entertaining depiction of comic sincerity and gee-whiz zeal and naivete wonderfully done by Miller,” writes former L.A. Times movie critic Kenneth Turan of the Flash in “Justice League.”
Bruce Wayne responds with a terse ‘I’m rich,’ when asked enthusiastically what his superpower is. The L.A. Times film critic Justin Chang lauds Miller as “the team’s lightning-limbed goofball” when the extended “Snyder Cut” of the film eventually comes five years later.
A NEW DEFINITION OF INQUISITION FOR MILLER (2018)
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter while smoking a joint on their Vermont property “Queer basically means no, I don’t do that,” Miller says. “I don’t think of myself as a male. ” I don’t consider myself a woman. “I barely recognize myself as a human being.”
Celebrity worship and adoration are also discussed in Miller’s remarks: “If you look at the world today, it is what governs it. No matter what your profession is, you’re still just a well-known person with a following, like me.
You’re aware of this? Furthermore, we are all probably insane. “Oh, it’s my people,” I think as I watch the news or television. We’re all in this together, mentally unwell. Cool.’”
INCIDENT REYKJAVIK (2020)
In April 2020, a seven-second video purports to show Miller talking to a female fan in Reykjavik, Iceland, “Oh, you want to fight? Is that your intention?” Suddenly, Miller snatches the woman by the throat and brings her to the ground.
In a popular pub the actor frequents when in town, Variety reports that a group of “very pushy” fans caused the incident. Staff led Miller out of the bar, where he was described as “upset and angry” by the trade paper.
‘THE STAND’ (2021)
In a CBS All Access (now Paramount+) miniseries based on Stephen King’s novel “The Stand,” Miller portrays a figure who is drawn to the evil side. When a pandemic wipes off the majority of the human population, Trashcan Man, aka Donald Merwin Elbert, escapes prison.
When Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgard) moves to Las Vegas, Trash sets out on a cross-country quest to smuggle a nuclear bomb back to the city.
Flash is now in the can. (2021)
Filming on “The Flash” is completed on Oct. 17, 2021, according to “The Flash” director Andy Muschietti. The film’s intended release date of Nov. 4, 2022, has been pushed back to Nov. 4, 2023, more than a year later. This is Miller’s first chance to direct a superhero movie.
THE DOWNTOWN HILO DISPUTE (2022)
Police are dispatched to a conflict in downtown Hilo on March 19 because an assistant police chief claims Miller is “uncooperative” and refuses to leave the area. They are cited by authorities for obstructing a highway as a result of the actor’s continued obstruction of a sidewalk.
The Arrest of A Karaoke Bar (2022)
On March 28, Miller was taken into custody following an incident at a bar in Hilo. When others started singing karaoke at the bar, Miller is said to have been “agitated.” When an actor screamed obscenities and took a singer’s microphone, they were charged with disorderly conduct.
They then lurched at a man playing darts, prompting police to file a harassment report against them. According to cops, the pub owner repeatedly tried to calm Miller down but to no avail. Miller was soon released after posting a bond of $500.
THE ORDINANCE OF RESTRICTION (2022)
Accusing Miller of breaking into their bedroom and threatening them while staying at a Hilo hostel, a couple obtained a restraining order against him. “I will bury you and your wife,” Miller allegedly threatened the petitioner as he “broke into the petitioner’s (s)’ bedroom.”
They also claim that Miller stole a passport and a wallet, among other things. A few days before Miller is to appear in court to answer for his actions, the couple files a motion to have the order vacated.
Fantastic Beasts: The Dumbledore Secrets (2022)
Amid the controversies surrounding the film’s release in mid-April, the L.A. Times noted that Johnny Depp has been replaced as Grindelwald by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, “who is an improvement and the only performer who seems to be enthusiastic in addressing this material.” There are also rumors swirling around J.K. Rowling and T.J. Miller.
THE THIRD OFFENCE (2022)
On April 19, Miller was arrested for reportedly throwing a chair at the head of a 26-year-old woman in Pahoa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Around 1:30 a.m., a traffic stop results in the actor being arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
When asked to leave a party at the actor’s house, police allege he “got furious” and threw a chair, cutting the woman’s skull by half an inch.
When Miller appeared in court by video for the March karaoke bar case, he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
THE ORDER OF PROTECTION (2022)
Interim protective order against Miller is obtained by the parents of an 18-year-old from North Dakota. The parents of Tokata Iron Eyes accuse Miller in court records of “psychologically influencing, physically intimidating and endangering the safety and welfare” of their child.
(They remain Tokata’s legal guardians under tribal law.) The tribal court, on the other hand, is unable to find or serve the actor with the court order. When Miller became involved in projects the Sioux tribe was working on, the family got to know him.
It is reported that Tokata and Miller first met on a North Dakota reservation when Tokata was 12 and Miller 23. “Cult-like and psychologically manipulative, dominating behavior” is what the parents’ petition claims Miller showed, according to the complaint.
Miller is accused of flying Tokata to London, Vermont, New York, California, and Hawaii while he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. For the “Fantastic Beasts” premiere in London in 2017, Tokata’s parents authorized the teen to travel with Miller and other members of the tribe.
In the petition, Tokata, aged 14, alleges that Miller sought to sleep with her in the same bed, but was stopped by a chaperone. According to the filing, “Ezra employs aggression, intimidation and intimidation, the threat of violence, fear and paranoia, delusions, and drugs to exert control over a young teenage Tokata.”
“Ezra has decided Tokata is non-binary transgender,” the child’s parents wrote in a court declaration. “Non-binary, queer, gay.”My comrade Ezra Miller for the length of the aforementioned times has only provided loving support and crucial protection,” Tokata wrote on Instagram on June 5.
A few days later, Tokata publishes a video debunking the idea that he did not write the statement.
That said, Tokata asserts that “if the comments are too profoundly contradictory to whatever preconceptions those of us… have gleaned, and have decided to carry, I would want to add, it’s nobody’s business and that no one is entitled to an explanation or an outcome.”
“This is my existence. These are my choices, and I’m disappointed in myself, my parents, and the media for making them.”
