An estimated £438 million fortune has been amassed by Mercedes manager Toto Wolff. The Austrian has amassed a fortune that dwarfs that of F1 ace Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen won his first F1 World Championship in Abu Dhabi, but Lewis Hamilton missed out on a bonus of £4 million.
Formula One team principal and CEO Toto Wolff is reported to be worth an estimated £438million, making him almost twice as wealthy as Lewis Hamilton, the world’s wealthiest driver.
He’s worth £215 million, which isn’t bad for a seven-time world champion, but it’s nothing near as much as Wolff, who has made headlines across the world for his outspoken reactions to happenings on the track.
Born in Vienna, Austria, Torger Christian “Toto” Wolff was raised by a Romanian father and a Polish mother. Toto’s father was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was eight years old and died a few years later, his mother also being a doctor.
Toto, on the other hand, grew up in Vienna and attended the prestigious Lycée Français de Vienne, a French institution in the city.
After the death of his father, Toto followed a buddy who was participating at Germany’s Nürburgring racetrack when he was just 17. His interest in the sport was formally piqued by this experience.
A racing driver, Wolff was unable to break into Formula One. When Wolff was 20 years old, he raced in the Austrian Formula Ford Championship for the first time. His motorsports career lasted until 2009, during which time he competed in a number of GT races.
As a result, Wolff was able to collect multiple victories along the way. In 2006, he came in 2nd place overall in the Austrian Rally Championship. At the Walter Lechner Racing School, Wolff became a driving instructor, as well.
In 2009, he purchased Williams F1 team shares. He was promoted to executive director of the group three years later. Wolff purchased a 30 percent stake in Mercedes AMG Petronas in 2013 and became executive team director just a year after that.
Williams and Mercedes AMG Petronas were among the companies that Wolff owned until 2016. This led him to sell his Williams F1 stakes.
Mercedes has risen to a new level under the leadership of team principal Toto Wolff. They have won eight consecutive titles.
Toto Wolff has accumulated a fortune in excess of $500 million over the last two decades. After he retired from racing, he made most of his money through his enterprises and related ventures.
Furthermore, Wolff is a billionaire in the Swiss currency (1.25). Even if you convert his money to the US dollar, he’s still a very wealthy man.
Wolff was born in Vienna, Austria, on January 12th, 1972. Having a Polish mother and a Romanian father was the reason for his ethnicity. However, his father was afflicted with brain cancer when he was barely eight years old. After the diagnosis, Wolff’s parents divorced and his father died in his early teens.
Wolff and his wife Susie Wolff were married in 2011 and have one child. Susie was a test driver for Williams F1 in 2015, and she has raced herself. Venturi Racing, a Formula E team led by Susie, is currently under her direction.
