Viewers can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that season 2 of the Cuphead Show has now been announced for Netflix. In the last several years, Netflix has released four big television series adaptations of video games. The latest is The Cuphead Show.
Castlevania, DOTA: Dragon’s Blood and Arcane were all huge hits on the streaming behemoth, and now it’s Cuphead’s turn. Season 1 of The Cuphead Show debuted on Netflix on February 18th, but the good news for fans is that seasons 2 and 3 have already been ordered, and a release date has been set!
The Cuphead Show Season 2 Is Set To Be Out In 2022?
After only one 12-episode run on Netflix, the worldwide Cuphead Show fandom is already gearing up for Season Two! Due to an interview with Animation Magazine’s Michael Mallory on January 25th, the developer of The Cuphead Show Dave Wasson discussed the series and its production.
A 25-30-minute episode runtime for Netflix originals was utterly ignored from the get-go, forcing the show to not only have an extended runtime but a whole second season as well, according to Wasson.
“At first, we used the framework of old theatrical shorts as a guide, but we soon discovered that staying inside a seven-minute length was difficult. As a result, these stories are capped at around 10 1/2 or 11 minutes in length, albeit each episode is slightly variable in length.” As Dave Wasson, via Animation Magazine, puts it: After that, it was stated that 36 episodes had already been ordered, “which will broadcast over three different drops.”
Cuphead Show season 2 is now in production, according to Studio MDHR, the production company behind the series. A new GIF (seen below) sent by the studio’s Twitter account indicated that season 2 will premiere on Netflix in the summer of 2022.
A definite date for the second season has yet to be announced, although a new DLC pack for the game (see the article’s conclusion) will be available in late June. As a result, the second season of the Netflix show is likely to be released around this time to take advantage of the DLC marketing campaign and promotional efforts.
The Cuphead Show Reviews: How Audience Reacted To The Show?
It’s been two weeks since the premiere of the first season of The Cuphead Show, and critics and fans alike have expressed conflicting feelings about it.
On the one hand, the series currently has an IMDB rating of 7.7/10, which is respectable but not spectacular. The show has a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ approval rating of 64%, and an audience approval rating of 79%. Most critics have agreed that season 1 was “all we could have dreamed for,” with IGN stating as much.
“Really a tonne of fun,” is how Comicbook described the series, which “doesn’t only sufficiently harness the charm of 1930s cartoons, but proves that Cuphead as an IP still has an opportunity for growth” (4.5/5).
For aficionados of the video game and those who have never heard of it, The Cuphead Show! is an enjoyable experience that is sure to please both groups.” A two-season run of The Cuphead Show! is a sensible move by Netflix, and hopefully, the show’s future episodes will be as enjoyable.” • Logan Moore, courtesy of Comicbook
There have been some negative reviews of Netflix’s latest animated adventure, but they are by and for the minority. This show “looks unclear of how much energy to put into its faux-vintage-ness vs playing to modern storytelling sensibilities,” according to The Verge.
The Cuphead Show Season 2 Characters
The entire cast of Inkwell Isle is expected to return. The most likely characters to return are Cuphead, Mugman, Elder Kettle, the Devil, and Ms. Chalice. For the first season, the supporting cast from Cuphead and Mugman is expected to return, including Porkrind and King Dice.

The Cuphead Show Season 2 Storyline: What Can Expect?
Cuphead owes the Devil his very existence. The Devil’s other debtors are fought in the game instead of sacrificing their souls. A separate story is being told in the show, but the Devil doesn’t seem to want to forget about Cuphead’s obligation. Season 2 of Cuphead could center on Cuphead’s debt to the underworld. Ms. Chalice is a new friend of the brothers.
Season 2 of The Cuphead Show will almost certainly feature a larger role for her, given her inclusion In Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. So it’s safe to assume that Cuphead and Mugman will be in danger in season two because of her impact on them at the end of season one.
