“Spirits Awaken”: Lockwood & Co Season 2 Unveils Its Release Date

When it comes to fighting ghosts and other supernatural creatures, America has been lucky to have its own Ghostbusters. What about us, though? Even Brits have ghosts, you know!

Lockwood & Co, a new TV show based on Jonathan Stroud’s YA book series, even out the playing field for us on this side of the pond. With Joe Cornish, who wrote and directed Attack the Block, on board, the only “problem” we have is that eight episodes just aren’t enough for season one.

So, grab some salt bombs and come hang out with us at Digital Spy as we break down everything you need to know about the second season of Lockwood & Co on Netflix.

Lockwood & Co season 2: Netflix release date?

Most of the time, Netflix renews a show within a month or two of its premiere. From start to finish, a show can take anywhere from 12 to 18 months to make. If Lockwood & Co is lucky enough to get that sweet, sweet renewal news, the second season will probably come out in the spring of 2024.

But Netflix has been on what can only be called a “cancellation spree” lately, so if the adaptation wants to keep going, it will need to get a lot of viewers.

Based on the Books, a Possible Plot for Season 2 of “Lockwood & Co.”

If Lockwood & Co. is picked up for a second season, they won’t run out of things to do. There are still plot threads from season 1 of the Netflix show that need to be wrapped up. These include what happened to Lockwood’s parents and what’s in the forbidden room.

The Hollow Boy, The Creeping Shadow, and The Empty Grave are three more books that could be used to tell the story of a second season. This could mean that season 2 will have a new wave of hauntings, protests in London, a mystery involving the Fittes Agency and the Brixton Cannibal, and a new character named Holly Munro will join Lockwood and Co.

When asked about Season 2 of Lockwood & Co., what did the cast have to say?

Ruby Stokes, who plays Lucy Carlyle, expressed her wish to expand Lockwood & Co. into multiple seasons to Cosmopolitan UK, saying, “100%. Yes, please get it going again. I was hoping for something like that. I’m interested in where Lockwood and Co. go, and I hope Lucy’s character develops. Who else may eventually join or depart from the agency? I certainly would be interested in doing that.

This is encouraging! Ruby continued, explaining why she was drawn to the part: “What attracted me to the role of Lucy was that she’s not simply the center of the tale or the hero, but she’s a well-rounded, fleshed-out, very regular adolescent girl.

She’s a teen going through the common experience of growing up in a world where the dead still walk, and she manages to do it all while expressing her mind and being wholly authentic. I saw a lot of myself in her, but she’s far cooler.

Joe Cornish, the show’s creator, and director said he “would love to” make more Lockwood & Co. episodes in an interview with EW.com, adding, “You know, the books get better and better, the world is explored in a very unexpected and exciting way, there are some incredible set pieces and twists and new directions to come.” With any luck, people will tune in, and we’ll be able to keep delivering the story that Jonathan Stroud has so masterfully written.

What is Season 1 of Lockwood & Co. about?

In this made-up version of the United Kingdom, the living hides behind doors made of iron, and the dead walk around the streets. Lockwood & Co. is a makeshift company made up of Lucy, George, and Lockwood. It is one of many companies that get rid of ghosts.

Together, they hunt ghosts and destroy their power source, barely avoiding being killed by the ghosts’ touch. The stakes seem to get higher and higher every time they meet a new spirit from the other side or even a non-human enemy.

Joe Cornish wrote and directed the show, and the main characters are played by Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati.
