Michael Richard Pompeo is a politician, former lawyer, and successful businessman from the United States. He was the 70th Secretary of State of the United States from 2018 to 2021, and he served as the CIA director under President Trump from 2017 to 2018. It’s unlikely that anyone else will ever hold both of those jobs at the same time as him.
The former head of the CIA has been through a lot of tough situations in his long career, but he doesn’t like to talk about how much weight he lost because he’s afraid he’ll gain all the weight back. But in an interview with The Post, he told them how and why he did it.
Mike Pompeo: Weight Loss Journey
The former Kansas Congressman said he started gaining weight when he was first elected to public office in 2010. He gained even more weight when he was named director of the CIA and then Secretary of State under former President Donald Trump.
As he worked around the clock and flew all over the world, it was easy for him to reach for cheeseburgers and sweets because of the stress of his job and the fact that it never stopped.
“He’s not the first person to go into politics and gain weight because of what the job requires. He’s going all over the world, flying 13–14 hours at different times and places “David Urban, who went to West Point with Pompeo, told the paper about this. “Keeping any kind of routine, let alone an exercise routine is very hard. You put yourself kind of behind the job.”
Pompeo kept trying to lose weight because he wanted to make a change. He is proud to have lost almost 100 pounds since he set his goal.
Pompeo also dismissed the idea that he was making changes so that he could run for office in the future. He told the Post with a laugh that what he really wanted was to live a long, happy life with his family. He said, “The truth is that I’m really preparing for 2044 and hoping to be around in 2054.”
In a phone interview with Fox News Digital on Saturday, Mike Pompeo said that after leaving the Trump administration last year, he made a lot of changes to his lifestyle and lost more than 90 pounds (41 kg) in the last six months. After photos of a slimmer Pompeo were released over the weekend, the interview happened. This led to more rumors that the former secretary of state is seriously thinking about running for president in 2024.

Mike Pompeo’s Weight Loss Workout Program
On June 14, 2021, Pompeo stepped on a scale for the first time in his life and saw that he was only a few pounds away from being 300 pounds. He said that when he woke up the next morning, he told his wife, Susan, “Today is the day.”
He said, “I started working out almost every day and eating right, and the weight just started falling off.”
Pompeo, who is 58 years old, said he put money into a home gym with dumbbells and an elliptical machine in his basement. The Post took a picture of him there this week. “I tried to go there five or six times a week and stay for about half an hour. And that had nothing to do with science. There was neither a trainer nor a dietician. I was the only one.”
When he was first elected to Congress as a representative for Kansas in 2010, Pompeo said, he began to gain weight. “Even though it’s true that I’ve had trouble losing weight my whole life,” Pompeo said that he had to be in the right frame of mind to finally get healthy.
“For me, it’s about getting it right and being disciplined enough,” he said. This is something he’s done in all of the high-pressure government jobs he’s held, but not with his own health until this year.
Mike Pompeo: Diet for Weight Loss
Fox News Digital asked Pompeo about his healthier food choices, such as whether he is consuming more fresh veggies and fruit.
“I began consuming foods I hadn’t consumed in a long time, but I began avoiding the foods that everyone knows they shouldn’t consume. For instance, I enjoy French fries.”
“Holy cow, I could pursue them with the best of them. And now, well, I probably haven’t had French fries since June.” He said with amusement, “Well, someone will discover a photograph of me eating French fries. In general, however, I just don’t do it.”
“This is about making better decisions on a consistent basis,” stated Pompeo. “And sometimes you’re in situations where there aren’t many decent options, right? There is a certain expectation when you are out with others or at a public event, for whatever cause.”
“So, I simply attempt to do the best I can in the time and acknowledge, ‘This is what I must do.'”
