But there’s a catch: with the exception of juror Ronald Gladden, everyone in the courtroom is an actor in the hoax. As a result of Ronald’s denial, the ensuing anarchy and laughter are all the more enjoyable. The trial, however, is completely made up for dramatic purposes.

Except for a doomed juror called Ronald Gladden, everyone in the courtroom is a willing participant in the hoax. Unfortunately for Ronald, he has no idea that everyone else is on the joke. This trial has been precisely organized down to the last detail, from the selection of jurors to the presentation of evidence, and the outcome is a humorous and chaotic spectacle.

Jury Duty Season 1 Review – All Rise for This Hilarious Comedy

The film Jury Duty is highly recommended. This 8-episode comedy series packs a lot of laughs into its brief 25-minute segments. The premise is straightforward, and at first glance, you might dismiss Jury Duty as just another prank program. However, the show has more in common with a mockumentary/sitcom like American Vandal, which only adds to its appealing qualities.

The show chronicles the ups and downs of an American jury trial, as presided over by a revered Judge who is serving out his final case and hopes to make it an unforgettable one for his audience. The only catch is that it’s all an elaborate setup.  He had no idea that everyone else is on the Joker’s side.

The selection of jurors and presentation of evidence have both been meticulously prepared for. And the end result is a crazy, hilarious storm. You can see that the creators of The Office had an effect on Jury Duty. The humorous tension is perfectly served by the deadpan humor and badly constructed lines of conversation.

Many chuckles are had as we watch the jury clapping (with Ronald tentatively holding out his hand to stop them) or a juror declaring he is racist to get out of jury service, only to softly withdraw his statement and apologize. Simply put, Jury Duty is a hilarious show. It’s not hard to follow, and there are enough jokes of varying styles to keep you from becoming bored.

The pacing is excellent, with just the right amount of time spent on each scene without ever dragging or becoming unnecessary. The best way to relax over the next several weekends, even if it isn’t the funniest movie of the year, is to watch this.
