Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips’ interpretation of Gotham City, which was influenced by Martin Scorsese, won’t be seen by audiences for more than a year. In any case, the sequel has now accomplished a significant milestone as it approaches its theatrical release.
Phillips revealed on his official Instagram page that Folie à Deux’s filming has finally come to an end. And to mark the occasion, he also posted two brand-new images of the movie’s two lead actors. Known as Arthur Fleck, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar-winning performance as the main character.
Lady Gaga, a newcomer to the franchise, will play Arthur’s love interest, Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist who falls in love with her new patient and later adopts the alias, Harley Quinn. The performers are dressed as complete clowns in both of Phillips’ photographs, and his text expresses gratitude to them as well as the rest of the cast and crew for their efforts over the previous four months.
In order to complete post-production, Tom Phillips also stated that he planned to spend the foreseeable future sitting in front of an edit bay. Fortunately, he still has plenty of time because the movie won’t be in theaters for another 18 months. Below is a link to Phillips’ post.
Phoenix isn’t the only returning cast member for Joker: Folie à Deux; Sophie Dumond, the original Joker’s neighbor, is played by Zazie Beetz. In addition, new characters will be introduced in the movie, played by actors including Harry Lawtey, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson.

The sequel is said to have several song-and-dance moments that will make use of the musical skills of its two leads despite the lack of story information. Hildur Gunadóttir, a composer who received an Oscar for her work on the first movie, will be back to score the second one as well. Joker: On October 4, 2024, Folie à Deux will be released in theaters.
