JoJo Will Make Her Broadway Debut in “Moulin Rouge” as The Iconic “Satine”

Joanna “JoJo” Levesque is a singer, songwriter, and actor who has been nominated for a Grammy. She will make her Broadway debut in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” as Satine. At the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, Levesque will start on April 11 and run for only a few weeks, until July 16. Ashley Loren, who was the original backup for the role and is now the full-time Satine, will be replaced by her.

She will perform from April 11 to July 16 at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre for a limited engagement of 14 weeks.

“I still can’t believe I can finally say this… I’m going to be on Broadway for the first time in MOULIN ROUGE!! JoJo shared something exciting with her Instagram followers. “As soon as I saw this musical for the first time, I fell in love with it. JoJo, whose actual name is Joanna Levesque, will co-star with Derek Klena, who reprises his role as Christian in the production. The plot follows a lovely young composer who travels to Paris and falls in love with the Moulin Rouge’s leading lady, Satine, a cabaret performer.

Aaron Tveit, who is presently reprising his Tony-winning role of Christian, and Ashley Loren, who is currently portraying Satine, will leave the production on April 9.

Levesque emerged in the music industry at the age of 13 with the self-titled album “JoJo.” The album’s track “Leave (Get Out)” topped the charts, making the vocalist the youngest solo artist in the United States ever to have a debut No. 1 hit. Among her further, albums are “The High Road,” “Crazy Love,” and “nice to know.”

Eric Anderson as Harold Zidler, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, Caleb Marshall-Villarreal as Santiago, and Jessica Lee Goldyn as Nini round out the current cast of “Moulin Rouge!” Oyoyo Joi is the substitute for Satine.
