The role of Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) in General Hospital is significant. Despite his good-guy reputation, the Cassadine heir has recently become one of Port Charles’ most despised figures. Given the disintegration of Nikolas’s life, his impending departure could be disastrous. Before anything else, Nikolas came to Port Charles as a teenager to save his sister, Lulu Spencer, by giving her some of his bone marrow.
But he soon found himself entangled in the intricate web of Cassadine family alliances and rivalries. It was first thought that his uncle, Stefan Cassadine, was his biological father, but he later learned that Stavros Cassadine was his biological parent. When Nikolas learned the truth about his parents, it set in motion a chain reaction of tragic events in his life.
As soon as Nikolas discovered that Hayden Barnes (Rachel Berlin) was not who she claimed to be, their relationship began to generate problems, and Barnes eventually coerced him into remaining married. Nikolas left town in 2011 after a dramatic turn of events, but he came back in 2013 to say that Stavros was still alive and responsible for Lulu’s abduction.

But by then, it could be too late for Nikolas. Ava will be overcome with sadness and remorse when she learns that Nikolas has died. If word comes out, she might go to jail and lose custody of her daughter. Ava, however, will lie and say Nikolas has left town with the help of an accomplice.
Nikolas Cassadine is Spiraling out Of Control at ‘General Hospital
Nikolas has been through a lot of turmoil, as have many of the characters in General Hospital. But the recent stress is what finally brought him down. Since it has become public knowledge that Nikolas is the biological father of Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) child, his life has been utterly upended.
Ava Jerome (Maura West), his ex-wife, was able to acquire Wyndemere with Victor Cassadine’s help (Charles Shaughnessy). Meanwhile, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), his estranged son, is vying for custody of his younger brother so that he can keep him safe from Nikolas.

The fact that Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is considering going to the police about Nikolas holding Esme hostage is just the icing on the cake. Nikolas is trying to keep his composure, but his downward spiral is undeniable. His recent behavior, in which he threatens to take Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) away from Ava, demonstrates that he is not in a sound mental state.
Will the Cassadine Heir Return To ‘General Hospital’?
Nikolas’s death frees Ava from her ex-vengeance. husband’s Still, Laura Collins won’t be able to shake the anguish she feels for murdering her son and then lying to his mother (Genie Francis). Nikolas might make a spectacular comeback just when everyone gives up hope that they will ever see him again.
Despite the lack of a replacement actor, Nikolas is a legacy character who probably won’t be killed off anytime soon. Possible future return of Nikolas to cause chaos in Port Charles. Many others, though, will not welcome his return.
If Nikolas is harmed, he will seek vengeance. Ava, the person he holds most responsible for his supposed demise, tops his list of enemies. Nikolas may now fire at Ava without worrying about running out of ammunition. Her relationship with Avery will end if she doesn’t do what he says.
What Happened to Nikolas Cassadine in General Hospital?
Some viewers of GENERAL HOSPITAL may need or want a refresher on the complex backstory of Nikolas Cassadine, a character who has undergone numerous transformations throughout the years. In 1996, Tyler Christopher created Nikolas, and by 1999, Colton Scott had taken control.
With actor Nick Stabile briefly stepping in to help Christopher send Nikolas off the canvas, Christopher reprised his role as Nikolas in 2003 and remained in it until his departure in 2016. Chris Beetem also filled in for a few shows in December of 2005 while Christopher recovered from surgery on his broken arm.
Nik was thought to be dead, but nobody was ever found; sure enough, he’ll be back in October 2019—this time, very much alive—in the form of actor Marcus Coloma. Although actor Adam Huss filled in for a single episode in September 2021 and then returned for another week-long stay in November 2022. Also, Huss took over for Coloma after it was revealed that he would be leaving the show in January 2023.
