You’ll have to wait a long for Despicable Me 4 because Gru and the Minions are up to no good again. In February of 2022, Universal Pictures and Illumination announced that they would be producing a fourth film in the franchise. Despicable Me 3 and Minions each hit $1 billion at the box office, so this had to be expected. After skipping the third film, Chris Renaud is back at the helm for this one.
Chris Meledandri, a co-founder of Illumination, will serve as a producer on the upcoming fourth film, which is scheduled for a summer 2024 debut. Six long years have passed since we last saw Gru and his lovely adopted daughters if you don’t include the Minion movies, which we don’t.
Despicable Me 4 is almost ready for release. Unfortunately, the animated movie won’t be available to view for quite some time. Don’t worry, though. We’ve looked everywhere online for whatever tidbit of data we could find on the upcoming comedy movie.
Despicable Me 4 Release Date
The CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri, confirmed in September 2017 that production on a fourth Despicable Me film was underway. Universal has scheduled the release of the next installment in the Despicable Me film series for February 18, 2022.
On Friday, Universal and Illumination revealed that the release date for Despicable Me 4, the studio’s fourth film in the franchise, will be July 3, 2024. It was also announced that on June 30, 2023, the new Illumination feature Migration would be released.

Despicable Me 4 Plot
In all likelihood, Despicable Me 4 will feature the return of the original cast. This means that the voices of Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes will be provided once again by Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Nev Scharrel.
Likewise, we want to see Kristen Wiig back as Gru’s girlfriend Lucy Wilde. The Minions, whose voices will again be performed by Pierre Coffin, are an essential part of any Despicable Me movie. It’s almost impossible to speculate on the plot of the next Despicable Me movie.
It’s safe to say that no one who viewed the first film in the series would have guessed that Gru’s twin brother would end up being a major character in the sequels. According to what Carrel is rumored to have said, the fourth film will pick up after the events of the third, with Gru and his family focusing on their work with the Ant-Villain League.

Despicable Me 4 Trailer
Even though there is no official trailer for Despicable Me 4, we thought you might enjoy this sneak peek at Despicable Me 3. Even though filming has begun, we still have a while to go before we see any footage from Despicable Me 4. The next big movie from Illumination will be an untitled Super Mario film, due out in April 2023, so maybe we’ll get a preview then.
