‘The Tiger’s Apprentice Plot
Tom is a little Asian American youngster who has spent his life in San Francisco with his eccentric grandma, Mrs. Lee. To guard a coral rose from harm, he is her reluctant apprentice Guardian, training in ancient Chinese magic. Nevertheless, when Mr. Hu, a tiger, and Mrs. Lee’s old apprentice, arrive, the monsters begin their assault.
After Mrs. Lee sacrificed herself to defend Tom and the coral rose, Mr. Hu became their protector. The protagonist, Tom, is an ordinary kid who finds himself lured into this realm against his will when he learns that his eccentric grandmother, with whom he lives in San Francisco’s Chinatown, is the keeper of the phoenix egg.
In order to preserve the egg after his grandmother’s death in combat and subsequent disappearance in a ghost wagon, Tom must train under the tutelage of Mr. Hu, a tiger, an unexpected tutor. Tom and the tiger make an odd alliance with a group of exotic creatures who, like them, represent a sign of the Chinese zodiac and can assume human shape while preserving their animal traits.
Mr. Hu is unyielding in his refusal to hand over Tom to the executioner and instead transports everyone to the enchanted land of the Empress. In order to save Tom, the Empress offers him a piece of Mr. Hu’s tiger soul. In addition, she makes a similar promise by pressing a golden scale to Tom’s cheek, assuring him that she will respond to his call. Exhausted yet victorious, the crew brings the phoenix back to the real world.

Conclusion
On February 10, 2023, The Tiger’s Apprentice will hit bookstore shelves at long last. Abominable and Disney’s upcoming Raya and the Last Dragon are just two examples of Hollywood’s exciting new emphasis on Asian representation in animated films.
Unlike The Tiger’s Apprentice, which is heavily influenced by Chinese mythology—in particular, the mythology of the Chinese Zodiac—the children’s books are set in modern-day San Francisco and center on the Chinese-American experience.
