Whoopi Goldberg Offers Hugh Grant Moisturizer on “The View” Following Oscars “Scrotum” Joke: “Never Have Too Much”
Hugh Grant no longer has to go without moisturizer because of Whoopi Goldberg.
Grant, who is 62 years old, was a guest on The View on Thursday. He talked about attending the Oscars 2023 on Sunday with his Four Weddings and a Funeral co-star Andie MacDowell, where he made a racy joke that he was “nervous” to tell on live TV.
“I was nervous,” Grant said on The View. “I wrote that joke, and I was very nervous about it.” During the awards show, the actor joked that he is “basically a scrotum” as he and MacDowell, 64, presented the award for Best Production Design.

After Goldberg said the bit was “funny as hell,” Grant said, “I think I got away with it.” Later, Grant joked that he and MacDowell were at the awards show to “raise awareness” about how important it is to use moisturizer.
“Sigourney Weaver told me afterward, ‘You don’t look like a scrotum,’ and she liked the joke,” the Love Actually star said. “That made me feel better. I was very worried, though.”
“Well, just in case, you can never have too much moisturizer,” Goldberg said as she handed a bottle of moisturizer to Grant. The cohost graciously accepted the gift and joked that he would use it right away.
During Grant’s appearance at the Oscars on Sunday, the actor said that MacDowell has been “wearing [moisturizer] every day for the last 29 years.” He then joked that he has “never used one in my life.”
After his “scrotum” joke, he and his partner gave the award to the production design team for the movie All Quiet on the Western Front, which won a total of four Oscars at the 95th ceremony.
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once won seven Oscars on Sunday, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing, and wins for actors Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Grant’s last cameo was in the murder mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which came out in 2022. In Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which comes out on March 31, he stars with Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, and Sophia Lillis.
