Richard Madden is a Scottish actor who was born on June 18, 1986. He was cast in his first role when he was 11 years old, and he made his cinematic acting debut in the year 2000.
While a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he began performing on stage. He toured as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet with Shakespeare’s Globe company in 2007, a role he reprised in the West End in 2016.
From 2011 until 2013, Madden was most known for his role as Robb Stark in the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones.
Madden went on to play Prince Kit in the romantic fantasy film Cinderella (2015) and Italian financier Cosimo de’ Medici in the first season of the historical fiction series Medici after Game of Thrones (2016).
He received critical praise in 2018 for his role as a cop in the thriller series Bodyguard, for which he earned a Golden Globe Award. Madden was named one of Time’s 100 most influential persons in the world the following year, in addition to playing music manager John Reid in the biopic Rocketman and a soldier in the epic war drama 1917.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Eternals, he played Ikaris (2021).
