Robert Marvin Hull OC was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is thought to be one of the best players of all time. Bobby Hull, a winger for the Chicago Black Hawks for many years who was known as the “Golden Jet” for his speed, high-speed shots, and showmanship, has died at age 84.

He was the last of nine kids and started playing hockey when he was young. In junior hockey, he played for the Galt Black Hawks. In 1957, the Chicago Blackhawks signed him.
He quickly became one of the best players in the NHL. Because of his strong shot and speed, people started calling him “The Golden Jet.”
Hull played for the Blackhawks for 15 years. In six of those years, he scored 50 or more goals, which is still a record. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1965 and 1966 as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player and the Art Ross Trophy three times as the league’s top scorer (1960, 1962, and 1966).
Hull signed with the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (WHA) in 1972. He was the first professional hockey player to sign a one-million-dollar contract. He played for the Jets for ten years. In 1976 and 1978, he helped them win the Avco World Trophy, which was the WHA championship.

Hull had a controversial life outside of the game. Two of his three wives said he beat them. In one of the incidents, which happened in Hawaii in 1966, Hull is said to have hit his second wife, Joanne McKay, with a shoe while holding her over a balcony. In 1978, a loaded shotgun was held to the head of figure skater McKay. After an incident in 1984, his third wife Deborah filed a number of complaints against him. But the charges were dropped in the end.
The player was fined $150 after pleading guilty to hitting an officer when he was being arrested. Hull will be watched by the court for six months. ESPN says that he was criticized for saying to The Moscow Times that Hitler had some good ideas but “went a bit too far” when he said that the number of Black people in the United States was growing.
In February 2022, the Blackhawks announced that Hull’s role as a team ambassador was over, citing the need to change the role.
Hull’s marriage to Joanne McKay terminated in divorce in 1980 after multiple aggressive occurrences. In 1986, he was arrested and charged with assault and battery after he allegedly hit his third wife, Deborah, during a fight. In the end, she didn’t press charges.
A woman named Claudia Allen was in a relationship with Hull. In 1980, Hull quit his job with the Hartford Whalers to take care of Allen, who had been hurt badly in a car crash. They never got married.
Hull and his second wife, Joanne, have five children: Bobby Jr., Blake, Brett, Bart, and Michelle.
