Lessons in Chemistry, a new series for Apple TV+ starring 33-year-old Academy Award winner Brie Larson, debuted with a sneak peek teaser on Thursday. The best-selling first novel by author and science editor Bonnie Garmus served as the inspiration for the drama, which Larson is also executive producing.

The Good Morning America Book Club previously selected the New York Times bestseller. While refusing to give up on her ambition of working in a lab, Larson portrays Elizabeth Zott, a talented scientist in the early 1950s who grudgingly accepts a job as a TV cookery show host after being sacked from her job.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth “aims to show a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men tuning in — that the status quo can be changed as she craves to return to the lab.” A young girl may be seen watching Elizabeth as the on-screen host in wonder after her character Elizabeth is introduced as “one of the smartest people in the lab” in the trailer for the show.

“Welcome, everyone. Elizabeth Zott introduces herself in the video as the host of Supper at Six. Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick, Outer Range), Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder, The Birth of a Nation), Stephanie Koenig (The Flight Attendant, The Offer), and Kevin Sussman (The Big Bang Theory, The Dropout) co-star with Larson in the eagerly anticipated drama.

Lee Eisenberg, a six-time Emmy Award nominee, is the showrunner for a series made by Aggregate Films. The actress has had other notable releases this year besides Lessons in Chemistry. In May, Larson will make her Fast & Furious debut with a part in the follow-up Fast X.

According to Larson, she plays Tess, who “is Mr. Nobody’s daughter,” in Total Film. She is technically Agency, but in a way, she serves as a bridge. She disagrees with the direction the Agency is taking now that her father is gone.

She went on to say this about her new persona: “She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and she is fighting for that.”
