Hilarie Burton Asserts Chad Micheal Murray Supported Her From ‘One Tree Hill’ Author During Reported Assault!
Burton said that Murray stepped in to stop Mark Schwahn, the creator of One Tree Hill because he “didn’t have anything to lose.” Hilarie Burton is thinking about how her co-star on One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray, stood up for her. On the latest episode of the Drama Queens podcast.
Burton, who is 40 years old, talked about how Murray, who is 41, stepped in to protect her from the teen drama’s showrunner Mark Schwahn during an alleged attack in Honey Grove, Texas, during the fourth season of the show in 2007.
“Chad came up to them and asked, “What are you doing?” He told our boss that in the bar, “Burton told her cohosts and former OTH co-stars Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz. Bush played Peyton Sawyer on the show.
“He saw our boss grab me in front of a lot of people, and Chad had nothing to lose because he knew our supervisor hated him anyway,” she said. “Many people had a lot to lose, and when you have a lot to lose, you don’t speak up. But felt so good that he didn’t have a problem with that.
He thought, “Since her boyfriend was there, I can do whatever I want to her in public.” Bush, who was married to Murray from 2005 to 2006, said she thought that his role as Lucas Scott on the show helped him defend Burton. “He was safe because he was the first person on the list,” she said.
“He was the most powerful, so he could come up to you and push our boss off you and start a fight. I’m happy that he did. I want everyone to do what she does.” Sophia Bush, who is 40 years old, also talked about how important it is to be a friend and look out for others.
“I understand that people are afraid they will make a hole in the ship, which will cause it to sink, but overcome that fear and protect your people. Because it’s not okay to think that looking at the ground is fine, “she told us. “And thank God, Hilarie, you used to have that moment with Chad, who was already so angry with our boss, before he got even worse.”
A representative for Murray didn’t respond right away to a request for comment. This isn’t the first time Burton and her co-stars have talked about One Tree Hill and the bad behavior they say happened on set. In November 2017, 18 former female cast and crew members, including Burton and Bush, said that the show’s creator, Mark Schwahn, had sexually harassed them.
The women wrote in the letter that Mark Schwahn’s behavior on the set of One Tree Hill was kind of an “open secret.” “Many of us were psychologically and emotionally manipulated to varying degrees. We’re still getting help for post-traumatic stress in more than one way.
Many of us were put in uncomfortable situations and had to quickly learn to fight back, sometimes physically, because it was clear that perhaps the superintendents in the room weren’t the protectors they were supposed to be.”
“Many of us were treated with approached in ways that ranged from deeply upsetting to traumatic to outright illegal,” they said. “We were also put in situations in which we felt physically unsafe. On our show, more than one woman’s career was in danger.”
Schwahn has never talked about any of the allegations, yet he was later removed as showrunner of EThe !’s Royals after 25 female cast and crew members wrote a letter saying Schwahn “felt the desire to abuse his position of authority in a surrounding where he had it over women who felt they didn’t.” “This led to repeated unsolicited sexual harassment of several female cast and crew members,” the letter said.
