Dead City Plot Information
Dead City would apparently begin up a few years after The Walking Dead’s season finale and will center on Maggie and Negan as they go through Manhattan, a setting that has not previously been included in any of the shows. With the start of the zombie epidemic, Manhattan has been cut off, according to the unofficial series synopsis.
Showrunner Scott M. Gimple has hinted that it’s a madhouse, and [Maggie and Negan] enter it and get swept up into the madhouse. There are a lot of conflicts. There is a lot of activity. There are zip lines, and the walkers are crazy. The series synopsis also hints that the two will be looking for a notorious killer and that they would encounter fresh and different threats as they move across Manhattan.
It’s anticipated that a significant portion of the plot will also center on the strained bond between Maggie and Negan. After Negan viciously murdered Maggie’s husband Glenn years earlier, there is a great deal of animosity between the two in all of their contacts.
Dead City will feature some of the most terrifying walkers in the entire world of The Walking Dead, that much is certain. Eli Jorne, the show’s creator, spoke to Collider about the specifics and novel concepts that Dead City will offer. “A lot of it depends on the circumstance”.
The universe has never truly existed in a metropolis, let alone one like New York. There are so many novel ways that we can encounter walkers that you couldn’t have, just in terms of the surroundings and architecture. There is also the city’s verticality, which has been a constant source of joy for walkers.
It’s also intriguing to see how people interact with walkers. How do you survive in that city, with so many walkers, as we’ll see, and the manner that they are? Jorne continued, “You’ll see intriguing new zombie experience, but also those ripple consequences of, how can you manage in a city with walkers”?
While they battled numerous walkers in the woods in The Walking Dead, there were also areas where you could simply trek and camp out. In the city, you don’t get the chance to do that as frequently. It will be fascinating to see how this sets them off and how their chemistry changes during their spin-off series.
