American singer, guitarist, and composer Darius Rucker was born on May 13, 1966. In 1986, he and Mark Bryan, Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, and Dean Felber formed the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish at the University of South Carolina, where Felber would go on to become the band’s lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. While Rucker was a part of the group, they put out five studio albums and had six singles in the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Most of the songs were written by Rucker and the other band members.
