Thunderbolts Release Date

On July 26, 2024, audiences will be able to see Marvel’s Thunderbolts in theaters. Filming is scheduled to begin in the first few months of 2023. In 2022, Eric Pearson (Black Widow) was hired to pen the script after director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts) was confirmed.  While Thunderbolts was supposed to wrap up Phase 5 for the MCU, Blade has since been rescheduled to take that role.

It’s hard to keep up with Marvel’s current list of projects and expected releases. therefore it’s possible that everything may change as the MCU Phase 5 progresses through 2023 and 2024, but hopefully, nothing will.

Thunderbolts Release Date

Assuming Marvel doesn’t change their minds, the movie will open on that day in theaters around the world. As nothing has gone according to plan over the previous few years in terms of Marvel’s MCU films and Disney + series, it’s safe to assume that nothing is final at this point.

Thunderbolts Movie Story

For the time being, Thunderbolts’ story specifics are being kept under wraps, and it’s unclear whether or not there is even a script yet. Yet, the Thunderbolts have a lot of potential storylines in the MCU. The film doesn’t need to spend time on character origins because they already know most of the players.

Most of the Thunderbolt members are already more likable than their comic book counterparts, hinting that the film will not initially portray them as villains but instead make them anti-heroes. It’s not certain what they might encounter, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Disney+ shows they watch end up setting up the events of the Thunderbolts movie.

Andy Park, head of the visual effects department at Marvel Studios, has also hinted at connections to the character Black Widow. This isn’t really shocking, given that Yelena, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster are all involved, so it’s safe to assume that many of the same plot threads will be continued. This could suggest that Natasha Romanoff, the MCU’s first anti-hero, is honored in the film as well.

Thunderbolts Cast

At the D23 Expo in September of 2022, Marvel revealed the Thunderbolts cast. Though Kevin Feige has already announced a number of familiar faces who will reprise their MCU roles, the Thunderbolts roster is sure to contain a few pleasant surprises. You may expect to see these Marvel characters and more in the crossover:
