“Practical Magic” is a movie that a lot of people like. Based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 book of the same name, the 1998 romantic comedy tells the story of two sisters, Gillian and Sally Owens, played by Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, who come from a long line of powerful witches. The girls dream of love, but they know that any man they love will die because of a curse put on them by their ancestors. After some bad things happened, Gillian and Sally have to use their magic to try to break the curse for good.
In 2018, Alice Hoffman wrote “Rules of Magic,” which is a story that takes place before the well-known story of Gillian and Sally. The story is being made into a TV show, so people will have another chance to find out about the Owens family’s history.
Release Date of “Practical Magic 2”
For years, followers of the cult classic film “Practical Magic” have impatiently awaited news of a sequel. Now, the wait is at an end! The release date for “Practical Magic 2” has been set, and fans are eager to see what the Owens sisters do next. A number of the original cast members, including Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, are slated to return for the film’s premiere in late 2023.
While nothing is known about the narrative of the film, fans are already guessing about the Owens sisters’ magical exploits in this installment. With the original film still being adored by audiences around the world, “Practical Magic 2” is guaranteed to generate a great deal of anticipation.
What Is the Story of “Rules of Magic”?
“Rules of Magic” is based on a book by Alice Hoffman of the same name that came out in 2018. The book is a prequel to her best-selling book “Practical Magic,” which was a big hit in 1995. Variety says that the story is about three young Owens siblings, Franny, Jet, and Vincent, who are kept away from other people because of their strange traits.
The three don’t know it, but they come from a long line of witches, and they have to learn to live with their magical fates. Franny and Jet’s future is clear, but their brother will “leave an unexpected legacy.”
The show will take place in New York City in the 1960s, so many of the interesting side stories will probably be about how culture changed during that time. We don’t know anything else about the plot, but Melissa Rosenberg has a knack for writing interesting bad guys, like David Tennant’s Kilgrave in “Jessica Jones,” so the main characters in “Rules of Magic” will probably have to solve some great problems.
We’ll wait for more information about “Rules of Magic” and look forward to when it comes to HBO Max in the meantime.
Who Will Return to The Cast List?
No one has been named to play the roles in “Rules of Magic” yet. In the show, the aunts from “Practical Magic” will be played by younger versions of Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, who played them so well in the 1998 movie. Vincent, who is the brother of aunts Frances and Jet, will also be a part of the story (via Variety).
Hollywood doesn’t always go out of its way to make sure that people who play siblings look alike, so this casting could go in any direction. As seen in the “Gossip Girl” reboot, HBO Max often casts unknown, up-and-coming actors in their original shows. So, maybe “Rules of Magic” will have some new, exciting names.
It doesn’t look like “Practical Magic” will be an official part of the series, so Nicole Kidman or Sandra Bullock might show up for a fun cameo. The A-list actresses are two of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but we’d love to see them go back to their romantic comedy roots.
