Morgan Evans Says Ex Kelsea Ballerini Is 'Saying Things That Aren't Reality' About Their Divorce

Morgan Evans Says that His Ex-Wife Kelsea Ballerini Is “Talking About Their Divorce in Ways that Aren’t True”.

Morgan Evans is talking about what Kelsea Ballerini said about their split in public.

On Tuesday, the “Young Again” singer seemed to talk about Ballerini’s upcoming “Call Her Daddy” podcast episode, in which she is expected to talk about new details about their breakup.

Evans, 37, wrote on Instagram, “It makes me sad to see someone I spent so much of my life with and loved with all my heart saying things that aren’t true and leave out what really happened.”

“She knows that I’m not the kind of guy who talks about things like that in public. I hope this helps her get better if this is what she needs to do “he added. “If you’re on my pages, all I ask is that you don’t be mean. Don’t treat Kelsea badly, and don’t treat each other badly either.”

“Life’s too short,” was the last thing he wrote.

Evans’ statement comes just hours after PEOPLE shared a clip from Ballerini’s interview on Call Her Daddy, which comes out Wednesday, in which she talked about the things that led to her breakup with Evans.

Ballerini, who is 29 years old, told host Alexandra Cooper that her relationship with Evans “took a long time to work” and that there were nights when she slept on the couch.

“There were breaks ups, and they went to couples therapy for years. There were a lot of nights when people slept on the couch “she told me. “I don’t think it was the first night, but there was a night when I thought, “This is not what I want.”

She went on: “The night before the CMAs, I slept on the couch, and I remember going to rehearsal at the arena and texting him, “I’ll just see you on the carpet.”

Cooper asked Ballerini why she slept on the couch, and she said that her marriage was “so disconnected” and that she and Evans, who she married in 2017, would often go for long periods without seeing each other.

“We hadn’t seen each other because we hadn’t made an effort to. I was getting angry because every time we saw each other, I felt like I had to carry that weight, and I was tired of it “she told me. “I was just sick of always showing up like that and not feeling seen or matched.”

In a preview for the episode, Ballerini agreed with Cooper that their breakup did get “nasty,” but she disagreed with a ballad he put out that made it sound like he was caught off guard by the end of their marriage.

This month, she put out a sad EP and short film called “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat“, in which she told the story of how her marriage ended.

After almost five years of marriage, the “I Quit Drinking” singer filed for divorce from Evans in August. Their divorce was finalized in November.

Since then, she has been linked to Outer Banks star Chase Stokes. Stokes recently told PEOPLE that he and the country singer “have just been spending some time together.”

“Kelsea is a beautiful, beautiful girl. She’s wonderful, “he said. “We’re enjoying ourselves.”

During an appearance on “Bobby Bones Show“, Evans talked about how it felt to move on.

“It was really hard,” Evans said about the mean things people said about him on social media after they broke up. “The only thing you can control is you, how you feel, and what you’re doing. Thankfully I have good people around to keep reminding me of that and keep me grounded in that way, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”

He also talked about how emotional it was to write his confessional song “Over for You,” which has lines like “How many times did you say you loved me when it wasn’t true?” — helped him work through how he felt about his high-profile breakup.

“It felt good to do that,” Evans said. “Just be honest, and not try to cover things up.”

“Having gone through a situation like that and seeing that it helps other people going through situations like that, yeah, it’s a big deal,” he said, adding that he thought “vulnerability and personal writing is actually the thing that most people can relate to.”
