American football coach Michael George Vrabel was formerly a linebacker. The most recent position he held was head coach of the National Football League (NFL) Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023. After becoming a unanimous All-American while playing collegiate football at Ohio State, he was selected in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was primarily a reserve player during his four years with the Steelers. In 2001, he signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots, where he eventually became a starter and was an essential part of their defenses in the early 2000s. During his eight years with the Patriots, he was named a First-team All-Pro and won three Super Bowls.

Known for his adaptability, Vrabel became the only player to score in two Super Bowls, Super Bowl XXXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIX, by scoring a receiving touchdown in back-to-back games. After being dealt to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009, he played his final games with them.

He was named a unanimous first-team All-American in 1996 as a senior.

Upon completing his tenure at Ohio State, Vrabel was recognized as the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in 1995 and 1996, making history as the first athlete ever to receive the honor twice (the other being Wisconsin’s Wendell Bryant). He totaled 36 sacks and 66 tackles for a loss.

He was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012 after being selected to the Ohio State Football All-Century Team in 2000. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Vrabel with the 91st overall pick in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh was home to him for the first four seasons of his career.

In the 1997–98 AFC Divisional Playoffs, he strip-sacked Drew Bledsoe to seal a 7–6 victory for the Steelers, making it his most memorable play as a Steeler. In 1998, Vrabel recorded 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks; in 1999, he recorded 9 tackles and 2 sacks; and in 2000, he recorded 15 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery.
