Julie & The Phantoms Season 2 Cancelled At Netflix

What future does Netflix hold for the show from Kenny Ortega? Will Julie and the Phantoms get renewal for a season 2? Here’s everything you must know about Julie and the Phantoms.

The TV series, which is the American version of the Brazilian show Julie and os Fantasmas, debuted well over a year ago. Still, Netflix only spoke about its future this week. The announcement was only given to the public on December 18, 2021, and unfortunately, we have to tell you that this is not positive news. Through his Instagram profile, Kenny Ortega has announced the cancellation of the show: Julie and the Phantoms will not have a season 2.

“Our family of Julie & The Phantoms wants to send you our love and a huge thank you for the tremendous support you have shown us since the premiere. This week we learned that Netflix will not renew us for another season. Despite the sadness in our hearts, we carry on with so much pride in what we have accomplished as a team and in the family we have built while creating Julie. We hope you will all continue to follow us as we continue with our jobs and careers. Happy holidays to all. We wish you much love, health, and perfect harmony.”

The post also received a comment from the protagonist Madison Reyes, who shared Ortega’s words:

“I love you so much, guys, and thank you for all the support. Remember to stand tall despite everything. This may be the end of Julie Melina, but it’s only the beginning for Madison Reyes.”

Indeed, the more time passed, the more the hope of a renewal diminished, especially after the decision of the service not to give space again to series such as The Society, I Am Not Okay with This, and The Irregulars.

The show revolves around Julie Molina, a teenage musician who by mistake summons the ghosts of some dead rockers, including Luke, Alex, and Reggie. The spirit of these three then helps Julie accomplish her dreams while she helps them fulfill their wishes. The show’s cast includes Madison Reyes, Charlie Gillespie, Owen Patrick, Jeremy Shada, Sacha Carlson Nick, Jadah Marie, Savannah May, Cheyenne Jackson, Carlos Ponce, and Booboo Stewart.

The show’s first season won some major awards, including Best Musical Moment at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards and a total of three Daytime Emmy Awards.
