Netflix throughout the world now has seasons 1-4 of Good Girls, but the program will not be returning for a fifth season on NBC or Netflix. But why was it scrapped? Is there any hope for Netflix to bring it back? Is Netflix the right place to bring back Good Girls? Let’s have a look at the most recent information.
If you’ve never heard of the NBC crime-comedy series starring Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, and Retta, here’s a quick refresher: As of season one, Netflix has streamed the show internationally and Netflix US gets fresh seasons one year after broadcast. Netflix in the United States didn’t begin streaming Season 4 until mid-March 2022.
Good Girls Season 5 Release Date
Netflix distributes the show abroad as an original Netflix series. Notably, The Good Place was a Netflix Original outside of the United States as well. Netflix’s Good Girls is bringing in some astounding figures. For four weeks after it was added on Netflix outside of the United States, it occupied the top spot in the global rankings. Between March 6th and March 13th, 24,500,000 hours were viewed on Netflix in the United States as a result of the show’s addition to the service.
Despite the fact that it wasn’t one of the network’s top performers, the series was able to maintain a healthy global following in part because of Netflix. Good Girls was one of several NBC sitcoms slated for cancellation in the upcoming 2020-21 season. Even though the contrary proved true in June 2021, it was announced that the show would not be returning.

Good Girls Season 5: Who Has Chances To Be Back In The Show?
- Christina Hendricks. Beth Boland.
- Lidya Jewett. Sara Hill.
- Matthew Lillard. Dean Boland.
- Manny Montana. Rio.
- Retta. Ruby Hill.
- Mae Whitman. Annie Marks.
- Reno Wilson. Stan Hill.
- Shane Coffey. Kevin.
Why didn’t the fifth season of Good Girls get picked up?
The fact that the show would not be shopped to another network was maybe even more relevant to this announcement. This is a stark contrast to Netflix’s decision to pick up the final season of Manifest, which was canceled by NBC but not produced by the network.
In the event that NBC rejected the project, Netflix would have been able to save the day. Given its streaming statistics across all areas and its history of rescuing shows like Designated Survivor and Lucifer from cancellation, it seemed an obvious choice.
This turned out to be the case, and Netflix would not be able to bring back Good Girls.
An eight-episode final season was planned for the show, according to a thorough TVLine exclusive story in July.
Negotiations with co-star Manny Montana struck a brick wall in mid-June, according to their report, and the renewal fell through for many reasons including lack of funds, creative differences, and schedule conflicts. In addition to the interpersonal issues between Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana, the show was unable to be renewed for a second season because of too many reasons.
As a result, we arrive at Netflix. What are the chances of them making it to the show’s fifth and final season?
That’s a bit of a conundrum.
A report by Deadline states that Netflix would have been the only provider of Good Girls season 5, but they would have had to work out an arrangement that would have worked under any existing pay structure. According to reports, Universal TV came up with funds to make the show a Netflix Original, but nothing came of it.
When Netflix finally had a chance to pick it up, it appears that money and other considerations stated above made it difficult to proceed.
