Erin Napier Illness
Doctors didn’t figure out that Erin Napier had a burst appendix until 2010, even though she had been having symptoms since 2004. Erin and Ben’s book, Make Something Good Today, is about what they went through during this hard time. Erin started out with fevers and stomachaches that got worse over time.
In 2018, Erin and her husband wrote a book about their past with disease, and that same year, she talked to a news outlet about the painful event.
Erin said, “Those ten years were really sad, scary, and hard to understand.” Erin remembered that her health problems began when she was 19 years old. She said, “At first, I would have terrible stomach pain and a low-grade fever for 24 hours, and then it would go away.”
They told her to see a different surgeon because they were confused by what they had found. During a second surgery, doctors found that the very rare disease was caused by a perforated appendix.
Did Erin Napier Have Panic Attacks?
Yes, Erin suffered panic attacks during her struggle with her appendix. Erin Napier is open about her mental health problems almost ten years after she struggled with an illness that she didn’t talk about.
The 36-year-old HGTV star opened up about her health on Instagram. The actress from “Home Town” wrote under a photo, “This time of year, I feel the anniversary of illness so acutely.” These pictures were taken in the hospital in 2014, near the end of my 10-year illness from an appendix that had burst.
The post had two pictures of the actress with her family in the hospital and two pages of scenes from the book she and her husband and co-star Ben Napier wrote many years ago.
The actress said, “I’ve been learning through conversation with my friend who is a therapist that it left some deep ruts in my neuro-pathways that have left me with an extreme fear and preoccupation with sickness, nausea in particular, ever since.” She also said that her “appendix” and the physical pain that came with it had been gone for eight years.
