American professional basketball coach Erik Jon Spoelstra, also known as “Coach Spo,” is the head coach of the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Most people agree that Spoelstra is among the league’s top coaches and the best in history.

Erik Spoelstra Career
After receiving offers, Spoelstra decided to accept a basketball scholarship from his hometown’s University of Portland. In 1989, he was voted West Coast Conference (WCC) freshman of the year. For four years, starting point guard Spoelstra led the Pilots in scoring with 9.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.
In addition to being a member of the school’s 1,000-point club, he leads the Pilots in other statistical categories during his career.
