A funeral service was held for FICCA, TERRI ANN, 47, on Monday, September 24, 2007, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. She was the daughter of Dolores (Lefebvre) Ficca of North Smithfield and the late Anthony P. Ficca, and she was born in Butler, Pennsylvania.
She moved to North Smithfield from Woonsocket in 2005 after spending the majority of her childhood there. She graduated from high school there in 1978. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Roger Williams University.
She was in the midst of her Master’s program in Primary Education. Miss Ficca was an elementary school teacher in the Woonsocket School Department. She was deeply loved by her pupils and colleagues at Globe Park School, where she taught third grade.
She also spent a good portion of her career with Eastern Mountain Sports, where she ran outdoor education seminars. Terri was a very outdoorsy person who loved to go camping, kayaking, and hiking—including along the entire Appalachian Trail.
She was a member of Big Sisters of America and volunteered with the Globe Park Parent Teacher Association, as well as coaching softball for 12 years in the Woonsocket area. She also had two pets, Talkeetna and Maka, and enjoyed playing golf.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her brother, Thomas Ficca, and his wife, Ann Marie of No. Smithfield, and her brothers Anthony Ficca, II and his wife Janet of Norfolk, Virginia. ‘T’ leaves behind her adoring nieces and nephews: Bethany Leduc, Aimee Kenyon, Gary, Melissa, Emily, Robert, and Jacob Ficca.
The procession to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket, for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007, will begin at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. St. Charles Cemetery in Blackstone, MA, will be the final resting place.

After the tragic death of her parents, she was raised in Woonsocket by relatives. She was raised in North Smithfield after moving there from Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2005. Ficca had a wonderful personal life and a distinguished academic career.
She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1978 and went on to get a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She had been working toward a second master’s degree in primary education at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she had already received one in teaching before her sad death.
