In a new interview with Piers Morgan, the tennis star said that before she got the all-clear, she was in a “total panic” because she thought she “might not see next Christmas.” Martina Navratilova has great news for her fans, friends, and family: She has no more cancer!
The 66-year-old former world tennis champion shared the good news in an upcoming interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV. She said that her doctors have told her that the throat and breast cancers they found at the end of 2022 are gone for good.
“As far as they know, I don’t have cancer,” she told the host, according to quotes that The Sun found. She also said that she will get preventive radiation on her breast for two weeks. After that, she said, “I should be good to go.” After her wife was diagnosed with cancer.

Even though she was told her cancer was “very” treatable, Martina Navratilova said, “I was in a total panic for three days because I thought I might not live to see next Christmas.” “I thought of all the things I wanted to do and made a list,” she said. “This may sound really shallow, but I thought, ‘Okay, if I only live for a year, which cool car do I really want to drive?'”
She also thought about times during her radiation treatments, like when she was feeling sad and asked for Elton John’s music to be played. “He starts singing “I’m Still Standing,” which he dedicated to me at a concert in Paris during the French Open in the 1980s,” Navratilova said. “I’m in this mask and can’t move.
When that song came on, I thought, “Great, now I can’t cry because I can’t swallow.” This month, Navratilova’s wife, Real Housewives of Miami star Julia Lemigova, 50, told PEOPLE that the nine-time Wimbledon champion had been diagnosed with cancer “When your wife is told she has two types of cancer, it really changes how you look at things.
We must all be strong for her sake. We don’t have time to just sit around and cry.” She went on to say, “I strongly believe that when tragedy strikes, no matter how big it is, you have basically two options. You either give in or fight back and rebel. And I’ve been a rebel my whole life, and I always push back.”
“So this is just another terrible thing that happened to our family. And there’s no time or room to sit and cry, which won’t help. Things will only get worse if you do that.” In 2014, Julia Lemigova and Navratilova got married. Since the first season of Real Housewives in 2006, they are the first same-sex couple to be full-time cast members.

The tennis star was first told she had breast cancer 13 years ago, but in 2010 she was told she was cancer-free. When she first got the news, Navratilova told PEOPLE: “It really knocked me off my feet. I feel like I’m in charge of my life and my body, but now this has happened and I can’t do anything about it.”
