Rodriguez made a statement with Cameron’s belated Avatar sequels after taking on three previous roles that were revived in other franchises. When it comes to her acting duties, Michelle Rodriguez isn’t a big believer in eternal life.
The Actress, 44, recalled requesting director James Cameron to let the character remain dead “as a martyr” in forthcoming sequels after she died onscreen as Marine pilot Captain Trudy Chacón in 2009’s Avatar. This was revealed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
When She Recently Met Jim, he commented, “Dude, I was wondering, What if Michelle returned home? A lot of the remaining characters got back [in The Way of Water],” she remarked. “You can’t do that—I died as a martyr,” I said. “Jim, I came back in Resident Evil, I wasn’t supposed to.
I shouldn’t have returned to Machete, but I did. We can’t do a fourth, that would be excessive!'” Rodriguez recalls telling him. ”I got back with Letty [in the Fast & Furious movie], I wasn’t meant to. I don’t understand, it’s so bizarre,” Michelle Rodriguez said.
“I guess they don’t know what to do with the lady who doesn’t have a partner.” Rodriguez frequently plays the romantic lead, which leads her to believe that producers are unsure of how to handle her characters. “She isn’t dating anyone,” I said.
Should she be killed or kept alive? On her website at the time, Rodriguez gushed about working with the Academy Award-winning director when she originally got the role in Avatar in 2007. “I’m so not [the] type to ass kiss, and I’ve never had a mentor in this field, not somebody I admire as much,” she wrote.

She continued, “I am about to go on a journey that involves one of my favorite storytellers and mythology manifestos of all time. I wouldn’t mind being this man’s assistant, and anything I could learn from him would make me so happy.”
James Cameron’s long-overdue sequel Avatar: The Way of Water debuted in December, surpassing $500 million worldwide in its first week and surpassing his own hit Titanic as the third-biggest international release ever.
